Science Night/ Science Fair

The Pinole Valley High School Science Club joined our 5th and 6th grade classes to judge their Science Fair.  Also, the students of the Science Club conducted several other exihibits for all other grades to participate in.

Growth and Advocation in the Area of Science

Multicultural Night

Student performed two dances coreographed by teachers.  Parents and familes came together to enjoy food and culture from all over the world.

Raised Awareness of various cultures.

Enriched student outlook.
Brought families together to enjoy performances and food!

Volunteer Appreciation

This was our second annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch lead by Mrs. Marina Flores.  Volunteers were given certificates and flowers in honor of their continual contributions to the school.

Tara Hills Drama Club: 2019 Spring Play - Character Matters

Members of the PTA lead the initiation of the new Drama Club.  25 Students collectively met three times a week for 8 weeks to prepare.  Current and former Tara Hills parents came together to help facilitate rehearsals and make costumes.  

The play for this Spring, "Character Matters" was acquired from such and such.

Miles Morales as Spider Man. and free Ice Cream and Treats.  Who could ask for more?

Great opportunity to thank our students for their great job selling chocolate.

Teacher's Appreciation Week

Parents and Volunteers helped to decorate doors and deliver awesome treats to our teachers as we celebrate their awesome contributions to the school.
Teachers received Breakfast on Monday and Wednesday. Chocolates on Tuesday. Lunch on Friday.

World's Finest Chocolate Sales

This was our biggest fundraiser yet, which had nearly $14,000 in sales.   The fundraiser helped to provide additional funds to support upcoming initiatives.

Bottom Line:
~$7500 in profit
Lots of prize winners and a heck of a sweet tooth!

Celebrating Black History

February 28th, 2019

Black History Month Art Contest

PTA held it's first ever Black History Month Art Contest.  The event challenged students to think about not only African American History but also the history of all aspects of the African Diaspora.

13 Registered Participants
7 prize winners
New outlet for Creative Arts.

December 2018

Focus of the Month:
Beating the Winter Break Slump

December 25th, 2018

Established 18 month Site License with IXL

One platform schoolwide for building Math Skills.
Learn more about IXL
Teachers were able to supplement Winter Break assignments using IXL curriculum.

Bottom Line:
475 Students now have 24/7 access to the IXL training platform.
Student learning outside of the classroom could now be tracked to provide teachers with greater insight regarding student growth or deficiencies.

December 8th - 15th, 2018

PTA Supports Candy Cane Grams

The PTA purchased Candy Canes that the 6th grade used for "Candy Cane Grams".  Students were able to send little messages of appreciation to other students, teachers, and parents for $1. 

Bottom Line:
Raised ~$ for 6th grade Student Body Council
Taught our students how to conduct their own fundraiser, manage money and facilitate sales.
Built up school morale!

Fall Festival Potluck

This event had to be rescheduled twice due to weather and participation concerns.  However, parents and PTA leadership still made it happen.

Served 20-25 Families
Built Community!

On September 26th, 2018 Tara Hills opened it's doors to over 100 guest for a free screening of Peter Rabbit.

Bottom Line:
Raised ~$1950 in sales

This additional amount of funds was crucial for allowing us to establish an 18 month contract with IXL!

Fundraising and Establishing Resources

October 5th, 2018

Dine and Donate Chuck E. Cheese's

On October 5th, 2018 we invited families to Chuck E. Cheese's to eat, play and contribute to the PTA.  Dine and Donates are a great way for the PTA to fundraise while not disrupting activities that families may participate in on their own time.

Bottom Line:
Had nearly 100 guest support the event
Raised ~$300
Built rapport with a local business
Had a great time!

PTA Membership Drive

On September 26th, 2018 Tara Hills opened it's doors to over 100 guest for a free screening of Peter Rabbit.

Raised ~$375 in concessions
Established awareness for Fall Fundraiser
Brought families together for a weeknight activity
Had a great time

Believe Kids Fundraising Campaign

Through your efforts we reached nearly $6500 in online and order form sales.

Bottom Line:
Raised nearly $3000


October 19th, 2018

Dine and Donate Panda Express

On October 19th, 2018 Tara Hills held a fundraiser at Panda Express.  Patrons who supported Tara Hills by purchasing food from Panda Express between the hours of 3p - 8p earned the PTA 20% of the proceeds. 

Bottom Line:
Raised ~$110 in proceeds
Brought families together, No cooking on a Friday night.
Had a great time

October 25th, 2018

Halloween Movie Night (Costume Party)

On October 25th, 2018 Tara Hills opened it's doors to nearly 80 guests in th form of students, families and supporters for a FREE viewing of "A Nightmare Before Christmas".  We raffled off a ton of gifts to kids in costumes.  Served a variety of food and candy. 

Bottom Line:
Raised ~$280 in food sales
Brought families together.
Had a great time!

October 1st, 2018

IXL Math Trial

In partnership with school and supported by Mr. Mendoza, the PTA was able to establish a school site license trial for the Math tutoring application "IXL".

Bottom Line:
No upfront expense.
Permitted teachers to use a 3rd party tool to supplement Math after school and at home for students.

September 21st, 018

PTA Membership Welcome Back 2 School BBQ

On September 21st, 2018 the PTA held a school wide welcome back BBA for parents, teachers, students and staff. The purpose of the event was to build community and increase PTA membership.

12 new memberships
Served 170 students
Had a great time!
